Dana

is a Pali word meaning the practice of freely and generously giving  one's support to another.

    - Sharon Salzberg, Loving Kindness

"The cultivation of generosity is the beginning of spiritual awakening. Generosity has tremendous force because it arises from an inner quality of letting go... When we practice generosity, dana, we open up these qualities within ourselves."

Dana, or generosity, is at the heart of the Buddha’s teachings and part of a 2,600-year-old tradition of freely offering the Dharma (teachings of the Buddha). From the beginning, the teachings have been made available to all who wished to receive them, regardless of financial means.

The practice of dana is rooted in a spirit of reciprocity and recognizes the beautiful interdependence between teachers and students. Teachers offer the teachings freely, and those who receive them have the opportunity to support the teacher in whatever way feels appropriate, making it possible for the teacher to continue sharing the teachings. There are no set fees because the Dharma is gift given from the heart.

The heartfelt financial support that you offer, allows Denise to continue sharing the Dharma freely through teaching and mentoring. Your generosity is deeply appreciated and helps sustain this tradition of giving and receiving.

"According to the Buddha, generosity, or sharing what we have, is one of the central pillars of a spiritual life. In the act of giving, we develop our ability to let go, we cultivate a spirit of caring and acknowledge the interconnectedness we all share.  The Buddha created a system to develop the quality of open handedness, whereby those who share the teachings are dependent on those who receive them."
